Simon Griffin is a British graphic designer and creative director whose career began at the internationally renowned, Neville Brody Studio in London, where he contributed to the development of a wide range of identity, literature and packaging projects for high-profile clients that included; Camper, Deutsche Bank, and Salomon. It was this early experience that helped shaped his working philosopy for design experimentation.
After his time with Neville Brody, Simon transitioned to the role of Senior Designer at Dolphin, a boutique design studio in London that specialised in music and retail design. He worked on music advertising, events and packaging for music clients; Cream, Renaissance, EMI Records, Orchestral Manoeurves in the Dark, Virgin Records and ZTT Records. Retail and Public Relations design projects for Clarks, Levis Strauss, Paul Smith and Virgin Megastores. The studio’s ideology was one of a minimalist approach, continual refinement in the belief that good design is a case of what you leave out rather than what you put in, coupled with rigour and precise attention to detail.
Simon’s career continued to evolve working as a freelance design director for leading brand and advertising agencies including; Brand Union, Imagination, and Ogilvy. He expanded his expertise into diverse areas of branding, digital experiences, and retail activation. During this time, he collaborated with an international client base that included Arsenal FC, Nike, Motorola, TAG Heuer, Union Cycliste Internationale and Vodafone. It was during this period that Simon honed his ability to blend creativity with strategy across various media.
Following this freelance period, Simon took on the role of Creative Director at Saville Parris Wakefield, where he worked closely with Howard Wakefield, Sarah Parris and Peter Saville on a range of high-profile projects. His work included brand identity projects for the Danish Social Liberal Party, the Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Interior, and textile company Kvadrat. Other projects included music packaging and events graphics for the iconic band New Order.
Today, Simon continues to take a hands-on design approach, collaborating with clients in diverse sectors, from natural beauty to fintech and hospitality to retail. His work has earned him recognition in prestigious publications such as Creative Review, Design Week, Graphics International, Wired, and Visuelle. Simon has also served as a design juror and received awards from Design Week and Transform, affirming his ongoing commitment to excellence in design.
